Purpose of committee
The full Council elects a Leader, who then appoints a Cabinet of between five and ten Councillors (including the Leader). The Cabinet at West Oxfordshire District Council consists of nine Members.
The work of the Cabinet falls into three main areas: advising the Council on future policy (in consultation with the Overview and Scrutiny Committees); taking decisions, providing they are in line with existing policy and not covered by the Non-Executive Committees; and appointing representatives on outside bodies and organisations.
