Discretionary Council Tax Discount PDF 73 KB Purpose To determine an application for Discretionary Council Tax discount submitted under Section 13A of the Local Government Finance Act 1992, as amended.
Recommendation a) The application for a Section 13A Discretionary discount, submitted under Section 13A of the Local Government Finance Act 1992, as amended, be considered by the Cabinet Member with responsibility for Finance; b) The full outstanding balance be refused a Section 13A Discount, and c) A percentage discount of 50% of the outstanding balance is approved. Minutes: The Cabinet Member for Finance, Councillor Coul, received a report from the Business Manager for Operations and Enabling, to determine an application for Discretionary Council Tax discount, submitted under Section 13A of the Local Government Finance Act 1992, as amended.
The Business Manager gave an overview of the individual’s situation, adding that the applicant had informed the Council since the application the mortgage on the house had increased.
The Cabinet Member for Finance, commented that there were sure to be other significant increases on Utilities on the horizon too.
After discussing the applicants full outgoings, circumstances and willingness to communicate with the Council it was resolved that under Application for Section 13A Discretionary discount submitted under Section 13A of the Local Government Finance Act 1992, as amended that: A percentage discount of 50% of the outstanding Council Tax balance is approved. Plus an addition percentage discount of 50% of the first six months Council Tax 2022/2023 be granted (50% plus the 25% single person discount).
