Discretionary Business Rate Relief - New applications and renewals Purpose To consider both new Discretionary Rate relief applications and renewals.
Recommendation a) To approve the recommendations set out in Annex A of this report.
Additional documents: Minutes: The Cabinet Member for Finance, Councillor Coul, received a report from the NDR Accounts Officer which outlined new Discretionary Rate Relief applications and renewals.
These applications were from ratepayers for the 2020/21 Business Rates year and the report explained that under Section 47 of the Local Government Finance Act (1988), the billing authority was permitted to grant discretionary rate relief to charities and other organisations of prescribed types.
The report advised that the recommendations provided had been make taking account of the financial situation of the applicant along with the Council’s aims. A list of the applications was attached as Annex A to the report and included the cost to the Council in each case. There were eight new applications to be considered along with one renewal.
Having considered the report, the Cabinet Member for Finance,
Resolved that the recommendations set out in Annex A to the report, be approved.
