Reasons for the decision:
The Council has been involved in ongoing litigation with a former employee who worked for the Council in the 1970s for some time. The Council’s legal costs and the impact on resourcing have been significant. Weightmans LLP have been dealing with the claim and now settlement for approximately two years and a full and final settlement figure has been reached.

It is in the Council’s interests to settle this matter as swiftly as possible to avoid additional legal costs.
