Test and Trace Self-Isolation Discretionary Support Payment Policy - Report

Decision Maker: Delegated Decisions

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Decisions:

The Cabinet Member received the report of the Business Manager for Operational Support and Enabling which requested approval to make additional amendments to the Test and Trace Self-Isolation Discretionary Support Policy.

The Government had given funding to local authorities, to help eligible people, who would lose income by staying at home to care for their children.  From 8 March 2021, the Department for Health and Social Care, had included in the mandatory and discretionary schemes, parents and guardians of children who had to self-isolate.   A discretionary payment could be made of £500.

Additional paragraphs in the policy were included from paragraph 3.9 onwards.

DECISION: That the inclusion of the Test and Trace Self-Isolation Discretionary Support Payment to parents and guardians of children who have been asked to self-isolate, be approved.

REASONS: The Cabinet Member for Resources and Deputy Leader considered that it was right that families did not incur loss of income, if children needed to self-isolate and suggested that some communication to the public should be undertaken to highlight the scheme.

OPTIONS:The District Council can set its own criteria for a discretionary scheme.
